The Goldfinch: A Novel (Pulitzer Prize for Fiction) by Donna Tartt
Dark, Slow, Interesting
The GoldfinchLong...and after 700+ pages tried to tie everything up in the last few. Seemed disjointed and very unrealistic. Also an overwhelming theme is that sometimes you have to do bad things for good results, with limited consequences. Does money really equal happiness? Does the use of drugs numb you to the point that you are like a bird on a chain, does holding something so tightly that you can't let it go even to make sure you have it lead to security? Felt contrite and almost like a fairy tale...darkness that leads to a happy ending.
