It's a long book and I struggled to get into the story and stay with it but I'm glad I did. I finished just this morning (book clug is tomorrow night)... the ending made me cry beautiful happy tears. It's a rare day when a book is so thought provoking that it makes you cry. I am so glad I read this book.
This is a book I never would have picked out myself. However, after reading the book, I am happy to report it is one of the best books I have ever read. I absolutley loved it and couldn't put it down. The circus and all that goes with it is a world that I knew nothing about and had no interest in learning about... and then I started to read. It is an awe-inspiring and unforgetable story... and I will never look at elephants the same.
I just finished reading this book and have now selected it for my book club's three year anniversary next month. There are several little tid-bits about the women's movement that were new on me. It is not shoved down your throat by any means, but it does makes you thankful for all the women who came before us and had the courage to stand up. This book inspired me to do more with my life... and made me really thankful for my girlfriends. Great book club book!
