This is an amazingly written and insightful story about the deep south during the peak of discrimination. My Godmother grew up in the south during these times, and as most of the white rich girls of that day, she was raised by their maid. She has told me stories, but until I read this book did I really understand what she was talking about. I loved hearing all the different perspectives. If you are one that likes to listen to books while driving, etc. Audible.com has a wonderfully narrated version.
