Our club tentatively selected this book as we had heard mixed reviews, especially in relation to some of the graphic sections but we unanimously agreed it was a good read. It took most of us about 100 pages into the book before it really grabbed our attention but the murder mystery and the strange Vanger family antics kept us going to the end. We considered reading the second book at a follow up club meeting but decided to give it a month or two before moving on to the next (personally I have already purchased the sequel and look forward to reading it sooner than later).
