My Reviews
I didn't think I was going to like this story, but as I continued to read it became very interesting. A bit shocking and sad and at the same time funny and sensitive. Great story for a discussion as I'm sure everyone took away something different from the end of the story. I thought the author was brilliant. She gave more than the everyday writer.
I loved this story. It tells a lot between the lines. Love, devotion, team work, and what it means to be a real friend. I also loved that it was told from the point of view of an elderly man and showed that even if people get old they are still humans with hopes and dreams. I learned a lot about how people lived ,coped, and hoped for in the 1930's. Great read.
Oh! My Gosh! this is one of my favorite books. A tremendous satire of the colored women were treated back in the 1950's. Heart rendering and very funny. I laughed until I cried. I grew up in this era and related to every story. It's a shame that people are so cruel to each other. It's also wonderful to find out that if you are on the side and work together life can be wonderful
