This was a poignant and heartfelt novel filled with fascinating characters. Like Julia Glass's "The Widower's Tale," I felt a part of the family Henkin reunites one last time over a long weekend in their Berkshires summer home. Like Richard Russo, Henkin often finds the humor in the dysfunction of families and writes perfectly of tragedy and loss and love without sentimentality. I read the novel in under a week (coincidentally over July 4th) and wish only it could have went on longer. I cant wait for Henkin's next book.
