One Thousand White Women (20th Anniversary Edition): The Journals of May Dodd: A Novel by Jim Fergus
Book Club Recommended
Adventurous, Interesting, Informative
One Thousand White WomenThis is an alternate history of an event taking place in 1875 in which the Cheyenne Indians suggested trading 1,000 White women for 1,000 horses in an effort to assimilate into the White culture. May Dodd, a rebellious Victorian woman, volunteers to go live and mate with the Indians as a means to escape her comittment to an insane asylum. The story that follows is one of adventure and romance and is very informative. The members of our club enjoyed it and it provoked a lively and interesting discussion.
