My Reviews
Could not put this book down after I started reading it. Follows the life of Alma Whittaker who was born to a wealthy family which appreciated learning and independent study. Alma\'s journey takes her to many parts of the world and introduces her to many characters who enrich her life. The reader will be right beside her as she experiences life. A must read!
Once again, Fannie Flagg has shown her expertise as a storyteller. You know people just like the characters and you love them as you grow to love Flagg\'s characters. I enjoyed learning about the WASP as I was unaware of the vital role of women in the war.
I loved the way Sookie developed as she matured. The adventurous Fritzi was certainly far ahead of her time. It was fascinating to read the way Flagg developed a sense of family, sticking together and helping one another. Needless to say, I loved the book and recommend it highly. Now, I am wondering who will play the different characters when this becomes a movie.
