This was a great book club book - it generated important discussion about human kindness and compassion. It truly inspired every member of the book club to "pay it forward" which we intend to do individually and as a unified group. It was a very quick but insightful read. I strongly cencourage other clubs to read this novella, particularly around the holdiay seasons!
Yes, this is a good book to read at Christmas. It really puts you in the giving mood and shows you that Christmas should be a time for giving but, as a novel it was lacking. The plot is very predictable. It is a sweet story, almost too sweet. It is not the kind of story that will give you much to discuss, it seems to have only one purpose. That purpose is that Christmas should be about giving. Give this book with a jar to someone at Christmas for a gift. It is a short easy read during the hectic holiday season. As a book club book that I would recommend for discussion- no.
Excellent book to motivate Christian charity and to celebrate this special time of the year
I was sent the book as a gift for Christmas, 2006. It moved me to action and the benefit of having a Christmas Jar was just realized. Several members of our book club had Christmas Jars as well and we just spoke of the joy.
I really enjoyed the book. It had several "hidden" meaning within it. Such as, it is a book about "hope" and the main character is named Hope. It is a book about restoring faith in mankind and there is a business named Restoration. I would recommend. It is a quick, light-hearted read. Good for the holidays.
Over all I thought it was a good read, especially for the Christmas season. It was sweet and heartwarming. I thought it was extremely predictable. It was like many other Christmas stories you read. I did enjoy reading about the generosity of the people and how they connected with one another.
a very enjoyable read during the holiday season.
This short read is a glimpse into what the true message of Christmas is. Prepare to cry, think and challenge your self to find the \\\\\\\"HOpe \\\\\\\' in your Christmas.
A wonderful little book about the true meaning of Christmas!
