It took me a while to get in to it, but once I got about quarter of the way through I found it very interesting. There was a lot of detail to the book that made it hard to follow at times, but all in all it was a decent book. I would definitely recommend someone reading it, but I would suggest writing down info as you go.
Under the Banner of Heaven was interesting but it is a very slow read. Morman fundamentalist sects are fascinating to read about as is the history of the LDS religion. I was also unaware of the Lafferty brothers and their heinous crimes. However, the book just didn't "flow" for me. I had to make myself finish this book. While the book was thought-provoking and extremely informative, it was also slow moving and that's why I can't recommend it for other book clubs. I would recommend it for anyone who has a fascination with the early Morman history and polygamy.
