"Incredible story of love!" by toeinked (see profile) 06/21/07

Redeeming Love is absolutely stunning! It is the retelling of a Old Testament story, however, don't think for one moment that it's dry or boring. This is the story of a man's love for a woman, a man's love of his God, and God's love for us all. You will not be able to put this book down and you will never forget Angel or Michael.

"Powerful Page-Turner that really makes you think!" by tooterbell (see profile) 06/08/08

This book is about 465 pages long, but luckily the print is fairly large. I started this on Thurs. night and finished it Sunday at 4 am! I can't believe I stayed up all night reading it! I just had to see what happened! There are times I wanted to scream at Angel, but I kept having to remind myself about her background, and how it was amazing that she had any capacity to love someone at all. I love that Francine Rivers teaches the reader about a Bible story without being preachy. I like to learn about the Bible, but it definitely has to be in a non-intimidating way, and this book succeeds. This story will keep me thinking, especially when I think I'm all alone with a problem. This book has tough subject matter, but is written in a way that most readers will be able to handle. It stops short of describing the horrors of prostitution in too much detail. An amazing read, and a great book for discussion. I will be reading other Francine Rivers books for sure!

I was spellbound with a tissue box (actually two by the time I was done reading it). I put life on hold and found new life in this book. I truly understood unconditional love in a whole new way.

"Ok book. An attempt at telling a Biblical story. A little "fake"" by mcdotreader (see profile) 06/04/10

I don't know why this author chose the 1890's to set this story in since the way the characters acted and talked sounded more like 1990. It actually would have been more beliveable if it was set in modern times (the characters used very modern idioms and jargon, and approach to religion was very "1990" rather than "1890"). I liked that she tried to portray a difficult to understand book of the Bible, and I think she did a fairly good job of it. However, she is obviously a romance writer, and did not seem to do her research into the setting very well.

"An attempt to tell a Biblical story by a romance writer" by pennyslager (see profile) 06/04/10

It was better than most Christian fiction, but still had elements of "cheezy-ness" that were a little hard to stomach. Too modern sounding (the phrasing used by the characters, idioms which are very modern, women starting their own businesses--were they even allowed to do that in 1890? etc) which made it unconvincing. I don't think the writer researched the time period very well

"finished in 12 hours!" by katemurphy (see profile) 06/11/10

This book was by far one of my favorite novels to date. Everything from the plot, the style of writing to the ending was amazing. I loved all of the characters, and felt like as soon as you grew comfortable with the plot there was a twist. I would highly recommend to anyone.

"Terrible romantic novel." by mpaniaguatej (see profile) 12/13/10

Even being Christian my self I found this novel slow and too long. The point of this story could have being written in half the pages. It was tedious and I have gain Heaven myself being able to finish it. Now I am afraid of picking another of the books this Web page recommends. This is the 3rd book I really did not enjoy or saw the point.

This was an awesome love story. The love between man and woman and the love between God and man. It's a story that makes you feel that whatever obstacles may be in your path, be assured you are loved.

"Redeeming Love - Renewed Focus on God" by ricki32273 (see profile) 03/17/11

This book was overwhelming for me. The power of God's grace and unconditional love shined through. I kept asking myself, how can I live a more God centered life? This book gave me a renewed focus on my life and my relationship with God. THAT focus has given me new excitement for my life and the future ahead. I can survive! (But only with God's help and love.)

God’s Love is Merciful
Redeeming Love, Francine Rivers, 4 Stars
Redeeming Love is a love story between Man and Woman, God and Human. The story is based on the biblical Story of Hosea and Gomer. The story is well written and more than just a modern day love story. Mrs. Rivers shows God’s love for us so easily and leaves no doubt how much God loves us. The novel has you shaking your head in God’s unconditional love for us. The novel also she shows if you love God and follow his will and not your own will, you can fine true love. Mrs. Rivers uses Redeeming Love to show us “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4–8a (ESV)” There is not one quality in Redeeming Love that was not good. I love how she changed the font to show God or the Devil talking to the characters. Reading Redeeming Love made me take a look at my relationship with God and my husband and made me want to be more patient and understanding with my husband and try to get a stronger relationship with God. Redeeming Love showed me what it really means to love someone as God Loves you. Mrs. Rivers did an excellent job with this story and you can tell she put a lot of thought in this novel. Francine Rivers is a true Christian Fiction author. I can feel the God coming out of the pages. I plan to see what other books that Mrs. Rivers have written that reinforced God’s Messages that some time we tend to over look or forget.

Powerful and heartwrenching; once you get started you will not want to put this book down!!! Recommend reading the Old Testament book of Hosea in the Bible first.

"A fast easy read, with lots of room for interesting discussion" by mindysauve (see profile) 03/30/12

12 members met to discuss this book. It got an overall rating of 3.5 from our club. We all found that it was a fast easy read. While many of us felt frustrated at some of the plot, some of the members had interesting insights relative to God and Christianity as they related to those frustrations. I would recommend this to book clubs that have an open mind about Christianity. It has a strong Christian-based theme that might not be well-recieved by all clubs.

"One of my all time favorite books" by Meresparky (see profile) 04/05/12

Christian or not, this book is wonderful for the heart. Every woman desires love. This is a must read. All of my friends have read it and can't put it down once they pick it up. I've read almost all of FR's books and am a huge fan.

This book can be as deep as the reader wants it to be. On the surface, it a love story between a tragic heroine and a PERFECT man. If the reader wants to turn it into a metaphor for a PERFECT LOVE and mankind, it fits beautifully.

"You will never forget these characters" by tcossetta (see profile) 01/30/13

By far the best book I have ever read! The characters will live in your heart forever...

Inspiring - just when I believed myself not to have a lot in common with the main character, God revealed how something I was also struggling with was just like Angel's struggle
