This book is about two generations of a real (with slight literary leeway) family. The adventure and historic events stand alone, however the relationships and variation of personal reactions/recollection are a major draw for this book.

The family reunion theme touched many within the group especially the genealogists. I think all of us came away with a new view of how we see our ancestors and why.

This would be a great book for family members to read prior to attending a family reunion. Perhaps even a book discussion as it relates to their own family memories.
