Notes From the Author to the Bookclub

Is blood thicker than water? That's the question for Lindsay when her long-lost sister, Kerrie Ann, turns up after an absence of thirty years, penniless and in rehab, and she's forced to take her in. Soon, the two sisters are at each other's throats. As they struggle to overcome their differences as well as their individual challenges---Lindsay in keeping her house from the grasp of a rapacious developer, and Kerrie Ann in regaining custody of the child she lost---they forge new bonds, and along the way fall in love with the unlikeliest of men.

Q: What made you want to write this book? What was the idea that sparked your imagination?

A: I'm one of five sisters, so I certainly know the territory! I found the inspiration for this story in my relationship with my sister Patty, who lives in Half Moon Bay, California, near where we grew up. Years ago we shared an apartment for a brief time. We discovered that we get along much better when we're not living together!

Q: What do you want readers to take away with them after reading the book?

A: I think anyone with siblings will relate to this story. It may spark some lively discussions around the dinner table! I hope readers will come to feel, as I do about my own sisters, that we are better people for having learned to accept one another's differences.
