When the death of Meridith's estranged father leaves her with custody of three siblings she's never ...
Introduction
Meridith can handle anything: guardianship of three distant siblings, a dilapidated Bed-and-Breakfast, even an ever-present handyman who's dismantling more than her fireplace--or can she?
When the death of Meridith's estranged father leaves her with custody of three siblings she's never met, she reluctantly goes to Nantucket to care for them--but only until their uncle returns from his trip. Little does she know, the uncle is already there under the guise of her friendly handyman, with plans of his own.
Will the love that grows between them be strong enough to overcome the secrets that brought them both to Driftwood Lane?
Discussion Questions
From the Publisher:1. Meredith’s father left her the gift and responsibility of his children. Has God ever given you a responsibility that you felt was more than you could handle? What did you do about it?
2. Meredith knew about her siblings before she was asked to be their guardian, but she didn’t know them personally until she came to the island. Do you think it’s possible to know about God but not know Him personally? Why or why not?
3. Meredith’s unstable childhood left her with the need to control everything around her. How does this kind of control give us a false sense of security?

Notes From the Author to the Bookclub
Note from the Author: Driftwood Lane features Meridith Ward, a safety inspector who inherits a Nantucket Bed & Breakfast and three half-siblings she's never met. Initially she goes to the island thinking she'll just fill in until the children's uncle returns from his summer trip. But Summer Place is falling apart and the uncle doesn't show up, so Meridith decides to do some repairs. When a tempting handyman comes to work for her, and her feelings for the kids begin to grow, Meridith finds her world suddenly spinning out of control. The story was conceived on my 40th birthday when I met my brainstorming buddies for lunch. I liked the idea of this woman, who is somewhat of a control freak, suddenly coming into a situation over which she has little control. The kids are grieving for their parents in ways she didn't expect. Jake the Handyman is her polar opposite and rubs her the wrong way. And suddenly, the thing Meridith needs to control most, her heart, has a mind of its own. I hope readers can relate to Meridith's struggle between control and freedom. Ultimately, she also learns the difference between religion and faith.Book Club Recommendations
