Introduction

If you?re a Southerner, you know Wyatt Kincaid.  He is that unique combination of good-ol?-boy Southern charm and keen intelligence, with a hint of (mostly) harmless salaciousness just to keep things interesting.  Wyatt Kincaid is only one in a cast of recognizable characters in North Carolina author Ted Miller Brogden's latest novel, The Last Kincaid.
Part corporate thriller and part homage to the myriad of colorful stories and characters found in North Carolina, The Last Kincaid will keep you guessing as the cracks begin to show in the dynastic mortar of one affluent Wilmington family, and the sins and secrets of a hidden past slip through into the present.  Rife with honest dialogue that remains true to Brogden's roots, the novel is at once familiar and foreign, much like the characters themselves.
As any Southerner knows, outward appearances can be a clever tool for disguising one's true motivations, whether they be good or ill, and the cast of The Last Kincaid are rarely who they appear to be on the surface.  There's the incorrigible Ganna Mae, master schemer and Oban-drinking diva, who drives the plot with her plans for revenge; there's the hapless Tim Ridell who just can?t catch a break, yet you may find yourself rooting for him all the same; and of course, there is Wyatt Kincaid himself.
