Introduction
The Maintenance Man is an intriguing novel about love, betrayal, and of course, sex. Michael paints a dark picture of his main character, Malcolm, who is a high-priced gigolo struggling with his morality. He is conflicted with his promiscuous lifestyle and his desire to pursue his dream as a pianist. While on an appointment with one of his wealthy clients, he meets a beautiful and gifted dancer named Antoinette, Toni for short. She recognizes his incredible talent and encourages him to go after his dream. But Toni is unaware of Malcolm's unsavory occupation. And trying to keep it undercover only adds to the drama.
Meanwhile, Malcolm's best friend, Simon, is dealing with his own issues. His fiancee', Cynthia is creeping with the local preacher. But Simon is so busy running the hottest spot in Atlanta, Club Obsession, that he doesn't notice the change until it's too late. But once he discovers the betrayal, all hell breaks loose.Simon finds comfort with his attractive young manager, Ariel, who offers what little support she can.
However, Ariel has her own problems as she struggles with being childless and single at age thirty. She becomes so desperate that she calls the radio station hook-up line. But instead of finding the man of her dreams, she runs into a series of nightmares.
If you love to hate a character, than Theodore a.k.a. Teddy Bear, is your man. He is a manipulating player and dead beatdad. He works at Club Obsession on Ladies' Night as the star stripper, a job he uses to his advantage to attract lonely and desperate women to take care of him. While they scream and stuff his thong with twenty-dollar bills, he's scheming on how he can take them for every dime they've got.
