Introduction

"For Maha Aziz, getting through her job as a news reporter for a suburban weekly publication is simply part of daily routine-- a rather maudlin one at that, and she's come to accept it. Who even cares for big ambitions and lofty goals in these times anyway?

Her editor in chief often shows up in her nightmares as Darth Vader. Her attention more than occasionally wavers, what with the mind-numbing beat assignments that produce a lack of story fodder. And to top it off, she might be secretly in love with fellow reporter, Brandon, who's as hot as the Houston summers.

But she finds unexpected focus when she's assigned to cover the school board elections. The district has been under the reign of an overbearing superintendent, and when word spreads of an incident involving the firing of a physics teacher at one of the high schools, plenty of fingers point in one direction.

Maha quickly realizes it's not the election that matters. While in the midst of uncovering the details, she gets entangled in a larger ethical conundrum. Caught in a web of deceit that spills over into her personal life, she's forced to take drastic measures.

Two Birds and a Stone is about life's haunting revelations, redefining relationships, and how sometimes following that inner compass leads one to depths of territories unchartered."
