Introduction

Book 1 in The Children Series

Gabriel of Blackroot looks beyond the edge of the horizon to see a line of torches heading straight for his home. The home where he and his mother, Rebekah, fled when his father was executed for warning the Lycans of Stillwater of what was to come. His four sons - Tyriel, Evanne, Cato and Lyon face an unknown force wielding blades of silver. They watch as their family and home are ripped apart before their very eyes. Helena, their mother, is taken by the demons who burned Blackroot to the ground. Only a few remaining survivors flee north to seek protection from The White Ones in the Snowy Mountains. Forced to leave, Gabriel plays his father's words over and over in his head - "There will be a bloody war in the Land. In the years to come, HE will be born and the New Age will sit at his feet." Tyriel's world changes. His life, as he knows it, ends, and something... else... wakes up. The family's legacy comes to pass, forbidden prophecies see the light, and a bloody war will ravage the land.

"Under the moonlit leaves of an obsidian canopy a Child is born... To save a world who placed him on a pedestal of scorn."
