Introduction

Depression is one of the most common diseases nowadays. It is caused by a mix of genetics, chronic illnesses and large amounts of stress. Sometimes it is the found to be the result of an intense trauma, like an accident or the death of a loved person.

Either way it may appear, it does not cure for itself and you do need to ask for help. There are many treatment methods, you can choose depending on your wish and the severity of the disease. The important thing is to overcome the misconceptions, the fear of being rejected by your friends and relatives or colleagues who acknowledge you to suffer from depression. Many depressed persons try to cope with the condition on their own; they fail and sometimes even turn toward suicide.

If you experience long periods of continuous sadness, longer than a week or two, insomnia, lack of appetite (or too much appetite), a deep disinterest in life and in all that surrounds you, you may be affected by depression. Before drawing conclusions, learn as much as possible about depression and take up some of the alternative therapies suggested in the following report. If you still find it hard to cope with your daily chores, ask for a doctor's help as soon as possible.
