Introduction
Dr. Janet Humphreys' book, The United Sates of Theocracy Was awarded Honorable Mentions at the 2014 Hollywood Book Festival. She wrote the book after becoming the target of Christian fundamentalists while working as a prison psychologist, and witnessed the pseudo-Christian tyranny in action. Harassed on the job, robbed of her retirement, conspired against, ignored by law enforcement, and her health attacked, Dr. Humphreys describes life in Christian Taliban dominated North Florida. In relating her story Dr. Humphreys exposes an ineffective, obsolete prison system, whose purpose has become self-preservation. In an attempt to continue its existence, laws have been created that endanger our democracy. Dr. Humphreys reveals the far-reaching entrenchment of the Christian Taliban movement in our society and the devastating erosion of our freedoms. While this movement has openly declared war on our society, our government is ignoring the threat. When people vote for candidates who oppose contraception and abortion, they need to know that they are likely also voting to end a woman's right to equal pay, to educational and job choices, and even to vote.
