Introduction

There doesn’t seem to be an end to misfortune in Mia Snow’s life. Her mother died ten years ago, and she’s been dealing with her insane father’s violent fits ever since. One day, as one of these fits controls her father's mind, she runs out of the house in terror and somehow gets trapped in another, snow-filled world. As she enters this new world, Mia finds a woman who promises the help of her son, Ben, as Mia travels across the expanse of Iceworld to see the king, supposedly the only person in Iceworld with enough power to send her home. Surprisingly, Ben harbors an Ice Dragon that will carry them through the sky, and they discover powers that even Mia didn’t know she possessed. A lot of magical things start to happen: hidden doors open, a carving of an Ice Elf, Katie, comes to life, snow angels lift themselves off the ground and fly away, and all of them are caused by something that Mia does. To add to her confusion, the king of Iceworld has long-time grudge against her family. Mia discovers her inner strength as she prepares to overthrow the king, but the only way Mia has a chance of defeating the evil tyrant is with the help of her friends.
