Discussion Questions

From the author:

1. At age thirty, Sophie is starting over, moving to NYC and eager to find the right career path. Could you do that--move to a big city and start over--does that sound appealing or intimidating?

2. Selling real estate is often an all-commission position either with no base salary or a small one, real estate agents only make a commission if they make a sale. Could you see yourself trying a sales job where there is no ceiling on income, but also you could go months at a time without a sale.

3. Have you ever had roommates that were also co-workers? Was that smart of Sophie to invite her two new friends and co-workers to become roommates?

4. What do you think of Sophie's relationship with her neighbor Max? They developed a strong friendship first--do you think that is important or is it too much of a risk to date a friend?
