Comment on the women's vindictiveness and meanness to each other, as illustrated by the episode of the women stoning the unmarried mother. How has society changed since the 1910s and has it been for better or worse?
One of the overriding themes of the Nolan women was their reluctance to accept charity, even when it was so obviously necessary. Do we still see this same pride in our society today?

The most unbelievable thing about this book is that it was written in 1940s. It is amazing and should be taught in schools instead of Great Gatsby
