My Reviews
When Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller gets on the case of an old \\\"friends\\\" murder, the courtroom drama couldn\\\'t get much better! Connelly at his best.
I found this to be a very well written autobiography that was very interesting to me as a fan.
Great characters. A childless couple living in a lighthouse find a baby in a boat with a dead man. When the wife decides to keep her, the resulting choices made reverberate and affect others.
A very LONG book, and several members quit early on. But everyone agreed it was beautifully written, if a bit wordy, and felt like you were reading six different stories! There were also no discussion questions available, so we had to wing it.
The first in a series of books with Inspector Hanne Wilhelmsen unraveling an Oslo conspiracy involving drugs, murder, and government corruption.
A interesting look at the world of politics and military interactions. Very violent, and geared more toward men readers, but still an interesting story that kept you guessing until the end.
Beautifully written story of family and loss.
So much food and so little time! The story of how a chef is born. Well told tale of Hassan and his ascent up the ladder to becoming a 3 star chef. Born in India, praised by the French ~ quick read.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the places that it went. A tale of two strong women from different eras and the mystery that connects them.
Axie Muldoon has a most interesting life. Being sent off on an Orphan Train at a young age, she using her common knowledge and the wisdom of older women to become a renowned midwife. Fascinating story!
Beautifully written story of an Indian family and their struggles.
I really enjoyed the historical aspects of the book.
Insightful story of what life is like in the world of ballet ~ probably somewhat true even today!
I really enjoyed the book. The look behind the scene in upscale restaurants was a real eye opener, and Grant\\\'s creativity amazing. It was also inspiring to see what Grant had to overcome to make his dreams come true.
This was a fun romp through a funeral, yes, you heard me right! The interactions between the various members of the family were so true to life, I really enjoyed the read.
I enjoyed the first half of the book, but after that it began to drag. I found it hard to believe a real person actually went through all the things Belle went through, thus my title!!
Well, our club was split on this book. Some thought it not interesting at all, others found it fascinating!! Maybe the YA choice was not the best for this group!!
Terrific read, kept me in the dark right up to the end!
Terrific job on covering two very different points of view. It covers the World Fair held in Chicago, along with a serial killer who takes advantage of the excitement of the Fair to find his victims.
Such a well told story of a twenty year mystery.
Most of our group enjoyed the book, but two members thought it was more for a young adult, and didn't feel the 14 year old character was true to life.
Half our members really liked the book, other just thought it was okay. If you like forensic science, you will definitely enjoy the book, otherwise, not so much! We could not find any book club discussion questions, so came up with our own.
We all seemed to enjoy this story of a walk on the PCT, but everyone agreed that Cheryl was woefully under prepared! Still, she made it through and came out a better person at the end.
We all agreed that the characters were very well drawn, even though we disliked most of them!
Interesting take on the true story of the disappearance of Judge Crater back in the '30s.
Fun read that everyone enjoyed.
This was an outstanding read ~ so glad it was one of our picks.
Half of our group disliked the book, and everyone thought it was a very sad tale. The writing was beautiful, however, and it seemed to be so true to life, as everyone seemed to know or remember someone just like these characters in their lives.
Most of us did not seem to find the book either interesting or particularly informative. We have all pretty much heard this before, and are frustrated that nothing ever was done about it.
An interesting story rhat most of us had never heard before. The I.ly negative was the inclusion of D.W. Griffith in the book, felt.to.be pandering!
A glimpse into the lives of those who live up in the hills in Appalachia.
I, and several other members of the club, found this book to be very slow and found it unbelievable. Most of the problems were caused by Mrs. Einstein not being able to believe in herself!
