This was a very enjoyable read. I can't wait for the sequel. The only negative is the "f" word was used too much for my tastes.
We all said it was a really well written book. The subject matter is hard to read, however, it gave us insight into these POWs lives during the war. We'd always heard so much about Germany concentration camps but not much about what went on in Japan. My heart aches for what they had to endure.
We all loved the book. Would definitely recommend it. Helped us realize that it\\\'s all in your perspective as to what we need to have in our lives to enjoy life.
We loved this book. It was not a predictable Christmas book and had a great message. The characters and setting were both charming. A definite recommendation.
This book isn\\\'t your average novel. It made us all think of how we would react if it were to happen for real (which is a possibility). We asked ourselves if we were prepared at all for that possibility. It also made us think of if not an EMP but an earthquake, etc. Motivation to make efforts to prepare ourselves better.
Overall our book group said we would NOT recommend this book. It had a lot of F words. It just wasn\'t that good, it took a good while to even grasp what was going on because of the unique format the book is written in.
