My Reviews
Great book club discussion book with moral dilemmas, the differences between selfishness and selflessness, and even the meaning of the title.
A very human story of love, loss, and hope. By the end of the book I felt Harold was an old friend of mine and I was rooting for him all the way. No pun intended.
The story of Ernest Hemingway\\\'s first marriage through the eyes of Hadley, his wife. Interesting facts about the expats in Paris during the 1920s add realism to the book. It does drag a bit in the middle but worth getting through. Great discussion about who the real Ernest Hemingway was. Made our book club want to read more of his work.
This is one of our book club's favorite choices. It is the very moving, true story of a man who spent 25 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Well written, addictive, you won't want to put it down. Great discussion!
We loved this book. We've been together as a book club for ten years and we agree this is one of our favorites. Great character development, great plot lines, and it did in fact make us cry! Very well written when a book can make you feel true emotions for the characters!!
It was a good story that deserved better developed characters, characters that had more dimension instead of being so cookie cutter types.
The beginning of the book had good character development but the end became unrealistic and contrived.
It is well written but I found it very confusing at times trying to remember all the "lands" Granny made up.
Liked "A Man Called Ove" much better.
Not what I expected but made for a good discussion. Well written, no wasted words. Although it is dark, it makes you examine how deep a sister's love can run and what makes a person strong or weak.
