My Reviews
This book was beautifully written and flowed so well that you were in the story immediately. It was a great story with many historical facts weaved into the plot.
Since all of us in Louisiana lived through the tragedy in one way or another of Hurricane Katrina this was a very difficult book to read. It showed people at their worst not some of the good things that happened. It also brought back sad memories of that time in our history that perhaps we are still not ready to relive.
Did not like that animals and children were abused. Could have added drama without horror.
This was a lovely book. It was well written and having life described from a 10 year old point of view was funny and delightful!
Fans of this author will be disappointed that this book is not as good as Garden Spells. It still is worthy of reading though.
The book could have been cut in half in length and still say all it had to.
Requires a certain audience. It is gruff and disgusting in some parts.
One of the best books I have ever read! This was such a wonderful story that needed to be told.
I hated that the author inserted himself as a character in the book. The story was not interesting enough to keep the audience engaged. It was hard to read to the end. The best parts were the music in the coffin and perhaps the last three chapters.
