My Reviews
excellent first novel, quite brilliant. A fascinating slice of life in Manhattan between the Depression and the War, among the haves and wish-they-hads.
This YA book is compelling but confusing, intentionally difficult to follow, with a heartbreaking climax. Suitable for older teens, the descriptions of torture are not detailed. Interesting especially for those who are not well read on WWII in Britain and occupied France, women pilots and women spies. Excellent read with a bibliography at the end for further study.
Excellent book, especially for anyone who likes puzzles. Written from end to beginning, going back a few days at a time, it's a thinking man's thriller, and takes a lot of concentration--both to keep track of what happened when, and because your perception of events keeps changing with new information.
