My Reviews
I loved this book..Not as much as the Mermaid Chair, but it was still great. I liked the storyline of 14-year-old Lily Owen trying to find out what happened to her mother and her relationship with her distant father - I wanted to strangle him! What a sad character. I love stories that take place in the south like this one. Rosaleen, Lily's care-giver and friend, rocks!
I was emotionally drained when I finished this book - I couldn't wait to get to the end. I could relate to all the characters and I can understand what David did and why he did it.
It was so good, right up until the very end. I couldn't get into another book for a long time after reading this one.
I didn't like how the author killed off one of the main characters - that person was in the story and then that that person was dead, very quickly...but overall it was a good book club pick!
Great historical book on many interesting and not-so-known facts and stories about Abigail Adams. I always found her interesting, but now know so much more about our second 1st lady. Good historical book that is not boring.
