My Reviews
The Yiddish Policemen's Union: A Novel by Michael Chabon
Confusing, Adventurous, Slow
The creation of an alternate universe is beautifully done/The novel is inventive, the characters appealing, the plot although interesting is not gripping.
All the Light We Cannot See: A Novel by Anthony Doerr
Book Club Recommended
Beautiful, Insightful, Dramatic
All the Light We Cannot SeeAnthony Doerr\'s book is number one on my fall list for the book groups I lead. The young blind girl, Marie-Laure, daughter of a devoted French father and Werner, the gifted German orphan, alternate in telling their story of survival during the dark days of WWII.
Doerr is a gifted writer. He manages to bring light and hope into the darkness during a terrible time in the world.
