Explores life of Afghan women from the 60's to present

An excellent storyteller, Houseini ,again weaves a heart- rending story of the impact of repeated invasions and upheavals within Afghanistan. This time the story is about the women of a small town: mothers,daughters, and childhood friends. The story of the dramatic change in their culture, values,and loss leaves the reader full of admiration for their strength and endurance.

Moving story of triumph of the spirit over evil

The remarkable story of the survival of one woman and her unbelieveable forgiveness of her tormentors. Her life is a lesson of a positive spirit that allows her to move forward with a productive life not hampered by the evil destruction of her family,country,and past life.
