I had to read this book in school.....didn't like it then and disliked it even more this second reading. Just because it is a classic does not ensure that it will be great reading....it is boring, slow and difficult reading due to inability to keep with characters,

Character development was brilliant...held one\\\'s attention from beginning to end. So out of character for Sandra Brown but a really wonderful change. It painted a very realistic picture of the horrors of the depressiion.....provoked tears and smiles.
