My Reviews
It was difficult to get over the awful grammar, flat characters, unrealistic dialogue, and ridiculous plot.
If you can get past that, it's rife with symbolism and allegory.
...then you will most likely enjoy this tale spanning 3 generations, set primarily in London, England at Wharton Park Estate. The story alternates between present-day and the 1940s in England and Thailand, but it\\\'s easy to follow with twists and turns in the right places, that keep you reading, even if they are somewhat predictable.
The writing itself was a bit too straight-forward with the telling, making it difficult to fully connect with the characters and making them seem a little flat at times (the author constantly tells us how the characters feel instead of showing). But even so, the stories were well-woven, the ending uplifting, and I would recommend it to other book clubs
