My Reviews
We had a lively discussion on American history and the Cheyenne culture. The plight of the indians at that time was a chilling thing and the unknowing distruction of the enviornment was brought sadly to the fore in this tale.
This book provoked a lively discussion among our members. Well written and great characters. I think the author captured the time and place with great accuracy.
Our club really enjoyed this book. It is the kind of story that moves you to tears and makes you see other people in a different light. There is always hope for humankind.
I usually enjoy Pat Conroy. Not so much this time. Dialogue was too flippant and scarcastic. Stereotyped characters. I did like the discriptions of the city and lowlands.
This story kept me reading. Jumped back and forth between time and characters but pulled all together in the end. Our club is reading it now and several have already said they really enjoyed it.
Olive Kitteridge is the central character in many of the stories ond only mentioned in some. I don't ususally read short stories but I really enjoyed these. Sometimes I wanted to shout Okay! Just get over it! But i did empathize withe these characters. Olive was very complex.
