My Reviews
Fabulous read showing the evolution of a young Becky with the anger, pain and self-doubt she carried for over 40 years finally arriving in a place of comfort and peace with herself, literally and figuratively. Beautifully written. You can "see and feel" what the author is describing.
BONUS: We had the pleasure of having the author, Barbara Kent Lawrence, at our book club meeting last night...that 2.5 hours flew by! Fascinating to hear which people and places were based on the actual ones. She even brought the red & white wooden boat that she got as a child...very special!
Don't miss the 2 minute video with beautiful Maine photography or the video interview, both on author's website.
Great character development
Our book club loved this book. Couldn't wait to read the sequel to The Kitchen House (which we read and considered brilliant) which was a tough book to match. A very good read but nothing could surpass the first!
This was an incredibly well-written book spanning many years....great characters
