My Reviews
Read this book two years ago for another Book Club. Felt it was an interesting book to portray the plight of women during this particular time in American history. Historical fiction also depicting a glimpse into Indian culture and treatment of American Indian. Does make for interesting discussion, however, was not a patricularly challenging read.
A delightful exploration of the occupation of the Guernsey Islands during World War II and the effect on those left behind as well as their captors.Leaves you wanting more stories from others as well.
The actual story behind the most recent movie of similar name: "The Woman in Gold". Portrays the story of the seductive Adele Bloch-Bauer and Gustav Klimt. One of the most famous masterpieces confiscated by the Nazi's during WWII. Also provides insight of the developments leading to same. The movie only covers mostly end of book and the ensuing battle to retrieve the family's most significant stolen piece of art and the return after a long court battle that spanned two continents. The book can be difficult at times due to the authors extensive historical research. A great book for art lovers and history buffs. I will be presenting to my MD book club in Sept. Anita F. Parton
