Good summer read

This is the story of Cara, a florist, in Savannah. She's a Northerner so she's had to work at getting clients. But Cars isn't just a florist she does many of the duties of a wedding planner s well. Her ideas a creative and she truly cares about her clients. But she's gone through a divorce so she's a little down on the opposite sex, okay, she hates men. Which is bad news since she's just met someone who could be the one.

I think Mary Kay Andrews is at her best when she's describing the people and settings, you can see she has a love of the South and yet doesn't sugar coat the idiosyncrasies. I gave the book four stars and that's probably more my issue than because of the story itself. I was so looking forward to laughing-out-loud as I have in past books by Ms. Andrews and I did find that laugh-out-loud humor was missing, but that doesn't mean I didn't think the book wasn't well written just different than I anticipated

Slow to start but hang in there

Julia Glass writes about Kit, a man who is stuck after being let go from his teaching position. He can\\\'t seem to get motivated to apply for other jobs, write his book or work on the house so his wife \\\"suggests\\\" he go find who his father is. She believes that\\\'s why he\\\'s stuck. The rest of the book is the story of Kit\\\' s family.

Where Ms. Glass shines in when she describes the comings and goings where it lags a bit is when she tries to talk about their motivations. Ultimately my question ended up being do we ever really know someone fully, even when we love them so deeply or passionately.

Paging Sheldon Cooper, please advise

Don Tillman is a guy who's brain is wired differently and so because he hasn't felt like he's fit in has gone out of his way to "not fit in". When I started reading this I could already picture this with Jim Parsons (alias Sheldon Cooper) in a movie version. Don has decided dating in the usual way; bar pick-ups & friends setting him up; isn't working so being a scientist he comes up with "The Marriage Project". This leads him to meet Rosie a non-scientist and a funny, engaging story. While this is a funny story it also made me think which made me thoroughly enjoy this story.

Vivid Imagery and storytelling

This is the story about The Narrator and his wife who find themselves in a new home and soon a sometimes visitor - the guest cat.Takashi Hiraide gives a such a lyrical story with imagery so vivid you can feel the wind as it blows through the house, feel the warmth on your skin and taste summer in the air.

The Guest Cat is a cat that is found by the narrator\'s neighbors, especially by the boy. But when the boy goes to school the cat goes visiting. I appreciate the sensitivity he showed.
