My Reviews
Verbose is the one word I would use to describe this book. A good editor would have made it sooooo much better. But I would love to go to a museum with Theo's mom. Boris was a wonderful character.
The main character in this book is not funny he's pathetic. This book was just hard to read one sad disastrous decision after another.
Sweet funny with lovable characters. This book really needs to be a movie
I enjoyed reading about this part of history
this book will spur a great discussion on race. And the writing is beautiful.
Falkner writes in stream of consciousness which translates into sentences that last pages and digress over and over again until you cannot remember the point of the sentence to begin with. The story was interesting but so hard to follow that it became frustrating. There were some beautiful words but they two were lost in the endless sentences.
This book was beautifully written and dramatic. There were very many quotes that return to me over and over in my mind. You could write a theme paper on all the ways the title is revealed through out the story. The book made for great discussion.
This book is filled with literary references that will remind you of other books you've read and the impact they had on you. The dialog is witty and fun. The metaphors are beautiful. The story is sweet. A great summer read.
This book was so interesting a real page turner. You find yourself on the edge of your seat routing for the boys in the boat even though you already know the outcome. The history of the times makes the story even more compelling.
The mystery of this book keeps you interested and there are several spiritual moments that make for an interesting discussion.
While the subject of this novel made for a great discussion. The book itself was simply a slightly elevated romance novel in the vein of Daniel Steel. You knew how the book would end 5 minutes in.
The book was interesting but the characters were hard to like. However, the book made a for a great disscussion.
The book starts very slowly and the author is overly descriptive which slows down the story even more. However the book has a powerful ending that makes it worth the read.
This book drags with endless descriptions that do not move the plot along. In addition, the topic has been done to death.
Very accurate picture of an active alcoholic and the torture the put themselves and other thru. Very much a savory page turner with lots to discuss.
This book is not very well written but makes for a great discussion.
The book really doesn't have plot it's more about nothing like Seinfeld but like Seinfeld it's addictive. You become attached to the characters and look forward to spending time with them.
This is one of the best sequels I have ever read. It works because it flips the perspective and tells a new story from the perspective of a totally different character. He really is an amazing writer.
The book is poorly written but raises some interesting points that are good for a lively discussion.
This is such a fun and entertaining book. So creative and the follow up book Brit Marie was here is even better. Both are heartwarming and laugh out loud funny
