My Reviews
Everyone in the club agreed that this book was not very good. Everyone liked the first section about Italy, but then the book got very boring and we all got tired of the author's repetitive whining and complaining. Some of the club members did not even want to finish the book because they lost interest in it. We were unable to connect or identify with the character. Many of the club members disliked the character. We did not feel that she truly had a life-changing experience but instead went right back to her old patterns of dependency.
I, personally, wasn't that impressed with this book. I found myself bored with the lengthy descriptions that weren't always relevant to the story and just couldn't get attached to any of the characters. I felt that the main female character was just self-absorbed and spoiled and the male was a perverted stalker. I don't think this is a true love story, more like a story of unhealthy & ridiculous obsession. I kept waiting for the story to get more interesting and thought that it was going to happen toward the end, but it never did for me. I didn't care for the ending nor did I find it believable. I think this book would be good for discussions, but I wouldn't actually recommend it to any of my friends to read. This book doesn't make me want to read any of the author's more well known books, either. Not my style, I guess.
I highly recommend this book for everyone! This book has completely changed the way I think about the food I eat and will certainly change they way I buy food. I think it's important to know what we are really getting when we buy something at the store that we are putting in our body or the bodies of our children and this book does a great job of clarifying a lot of that. Who knew that corn could be such a fascinating subject! I am going to tell all of my friends to read this one.
Our book club enjoyed this book and the opinions ranged from depressing to laugh-out-loud funny. This book definately generated some interesting discussions. It was a quick and easy read, also.
His was a great book to read. I have a personal fondness for elephants, which made the story that much better, but even despite that it's a great read. There are so many facets to this story that make for great discussion. Highly recommend this one!
