My Reviews
If you are an engineer and love problem solving, you will like this book. I wanted more about the people and fewer, long explanations of how every problem was solved. I realize he faced great problems, just to survive. I just didn't enjoy the majority of this book. I select our book clubs books, and this won't be one of them!
This book was wonderful. I wanted to keep reading because I was totally engrossed in the story of the two sisters and how they dealt with their circumstances during WWII in France. I won't reveal the story as I don't want to spoil it for you, but there is a huge twist at the end of the book. I love it!
I liked the book but became annoyed with the main character. She really wasn't very likable. The story held my interest however because I wanted to know the outcome.
This book was wonderfully written and the story was excellent. The two main characters, an elderly woman who rode the orphan train, and a juvenile delinquent girl, have much more in common than they think. In some ways, they are healing balm to each other. Although told in two different voices, both characters come across independently and with a full voice. Excellent book.
The year this came out, it was my favorite book! A father defending his son, accused of murder, makes a fascinating read. To see the effects this situation has on the family, is intriguing. Is the son guilty, or not? The end was surprising.
