Everyone agreed it was a very \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"real life\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" book, admitting life is no fairytale no matter how beautiful your house or renown your kid\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s school is. Those who are married and have kids may find more to talk about with this read, or those who know addicts or have lived through substance abuse.

There were mixed reviews within our book club, but everyone appreciated her strong writing and found themselves really caring for the characters, especially Theo. Some parts of the book are slow, but just trust that Tartt knows what she\\\'s doing, because she certainly does. Overall, we enjoyed reading it and had a great discussion on the depth of the characters and the tragedies of their situations.
