My Reviews
This book was interesting for perhaps the first third of the book. Then it went downhill from there as soon as Boris entered the picture. I felt the protagonist was so weak--the drug scenes were horrible. When there is so much evil in the world--why would I read a book about it.
Poor editing.
Everyone loved the book especially the two protagonist, whose characters were very well developed. The plot was exciting and was a page turner. The fact that women could be capable of so much under trying circumstances was a constant subject with the group.
Only 1 person out of a group of 10 did not like the book. The rest thought the book was very well written, was a page turner, and were surprised at the ending. Would give it a 4 1/2 star if it were possible. The book provoked quite a lively discussion.
The reviews were mixed from boring to inspirational.
Our book club loved the book and especially the character of Mei Leon. Prejudices are still prevalent in our world with the ostracizing that goes along with it.
Jodi Picoult really brought the issue of racism to a head. Always like to read her books because of the social issues she exploits.
It was of general opinion that everyone loved and respected Coco Chanel for her revolutionary change in the world of fashion. Not as much respect for her personal life.\
I was really excited about reading this book. a synopsis that a bookseller would choose the perfect book for a client. I envisioned some great stories before recommending a book. It was not. It was dull and boring. A lot of like a few old time authors that I will not read. After 60 pages with nothing happening, I stopped reading. If you want to waste your valuable time, then this is the book for you. I had a friend who said they had to drink wine to get through 50 pages. She's said she's now an alcoholic. (Joke).
Loved it. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors.
Really enjoyed this book. Suspenseful and the plot kept me reading into the night.
