My Accidental Jihad

In a world that has no racial or religious boundaries, this book has a courageous voice that is wise, insightful and committed to a relationship met with challenges and a road not so easily traveled. Well written. A must read!

The Goldfinch

Mind numbing, boring, repetitive; hardly worth such a prestigious award.

The subject matter is interesting on many levels. In a society where plastic surgery, tattoos, body piercing, alcohol consumption, collections, shopping, religion, exercising, etc. are in the press and tabloids on a regular basis, the underlying motivation for addictive behavior is fascinating. More interesting is the recognition of triggers and ways in which to redirect one's energy. This is a book most people could benefit from.

The Kitchen House

There are few books that make it to my \"keep it\" shelf. This one is one of the few that has a place there. I was captivated from the first page. The characters were so well developed and the mix of historical fact and fiction made this book a page turner from beginning to end. I loved it! My copy is well worn from the passing on to friends who have loved it too. A must read!

So well written! The characters so honest and real. I learned many tidbits along my read and thought the ending to be so Americanah! A must read.

The Language Of Flowers

A must read! A thoughtful exploration of children coming out of the Foster Care System. The author addresses a difficult subject while infusing it with hope, inspiration and a hint of romanticism for its main characters.

Safekeeping: A Novel by Jessamyn Hope

Our group felt there were chapters missing that could otherwise make this book more cohesive. We also felt it had too many loose ends and had trouble reconciling the author's ending choice.
