My Reviews
With practically non-stop action and a number of scenes depicting cold-hearted cruelty and manipulation, this brilliantly written novel affords the reader a brutally realistic glimpse into a futuristic society which may feasibly become a reality some day. At the same time, elements of humor are welcome intrusions in the narrative, as Jonathan Harkon comments (in one sequence) on what he sees as the folly of dead humans being buried in cemetery plots. Or the way he fantasizes about Brenda's beautiful hair and luscious scent, only to remark," Thoughts like that would be wholly inappropriate. So, of course, I didn't have them!"
It goes without saying, then, that the Jonathan Harkon series is certain to deliver plenty of action, humor, and even prove to be intellectually stimulating!
Whether or not you happen to be a science-fiction buff, you should find this story particularly touching and engrossing. Fast-moving but taking the time to establish character with just a few deft strokes of inspiration, "Donavan" is a sweet coming-of-age story that you won't soon forget.
Written with great sensitivity as well as an incredible amount of insight into human emotions (both male and female), "Dog Days of Summer" is a fantastic read for anyone who is looking for a story involving true-to-life characters in a setting that is rather unconventional. I must admit that any preconceived ideas I may have entertained regarding bikers and the sort of "world" they lived in have now been shattered as the author presents a different kind of biker story for all to enjoy. And in the character of Joci, you have a tender-hearted and brave woman who is able to overcome her own insecurities and fears in order to find true, fulfilling happiness, hopefully one that will last for the rest of her life. I will definitely be on the lookout for other works by this author!
Interesting from start to finish!

I found this novel to be very engaging from beginning to end. Prospective readers need to be prepared to embark upon an intense literary adventure!
David Cook does a tremendously expert job of creating believable characters caught in trying circumstances, thus keeping the reader constantly engaged from beginning to end.
