My Reviews
The general consensus of the group was that it was too wordy, too much description to the point where it would lose the reader. The details were nice in the sense that it gave you a clear picture, but much of the time the depth of the description was unnecessary to the storyline. Many times the reader would get lost in the detail and find themselves skimming the pages to move on in the story. The storyline was interesting and had the reader wanting to know what was going to happen next but could have been told in about half the number of pages.
Hard to follow at times and some of the over loaded details caused me to drift off at times. Interesting story and at times I could not put it down. Overall good discussion st our book club but I would not recommend it for a casual read.
Love it, could not put it down! Very interesting, I live in Iowa and did not know about the POW camps and the story line was a great way to bring in some historical fiction!
Kept me interested on where the characters were going. I wish it would have had more details in the end about how things went after her time in the house.
