My Reviews
Born to Run was a book that challenged much of what we "were sure we knew". There was a lot to learn along with an interesting assembly of characters. Lots of discussion, so this was a good book club pick!
Our group found a lot to talk about with this book. How does a foster family understand someone who doesn't think or behave in a "normal" way? It gave an interesting insight into the mind of someone who most people can't understand. Good conversation at our meeting with this one!
Between the style of the writing (including the rap) and the topic, there was plenty to keep the conversation moving along with this book. Even though it's intended more as a YA book, this was a good selection. Recommend having people do audio rather than print version if possible!
This book allowed a DISCUSSION of some difficult topics. All too often today, we're not able to find middle ground on issues like this. This book provided enough info that there was middle ground. We all wished that there were more ideas for making these changes happen, but agreed that the book was thought-provoking.
