My Reviews
Nice easy read. Not a great degree of depth but has a good story and main characters are well developed. It was a sweet and fun book.
This book was very well written, captivating the reader and keeping you hooked throughout.
The main character development of Claire and Jamie (excuse my spelling, I did the audiobook) was excellent and it did not take very long to love them both. I was so touched and captivated during Claire's SPOILER ALERT choice at the stones that I had to literally stop what I was doing to sit down for a big sob session.
I recommend the book highly, but warn you...its a series and you will want to keep reading so be prepared to keep going....and going.....
It is a piece of non-fiction though at the start thought it was historical fiction. The writing is very good, and that alone makes it a good book for me. I am almost strictly a reader of fiction but the history of this time in America and the grandiosity of the Chicago World's Fair was interesting and held my attention in the slower parts.
I enjoyed the last few chapters the most, the ones about how vast the murders were, the way that psychopaths think and live in and around others to learn how to behave as a others do if only to become a master at manipulation and deception.
Good book, better on audio I bet, interesting historically. Great writing.
This is the second time I have read this book, and I have also read most of the books in the series. I love the characters, especially Mma Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B Matekoni. I was fascinated about the Botswana culture and history and mores of the people. The book is written so that it is very easy to become engaged and then finish the book quickly, if desired. I have listened to the series on audiobook, and love to hear the voices by the very talented narrator for the Audible version. I highly recommend the book for a fun, easy read and one in which to contemplate how uncomplicated and peaceful one's life can be, and how I hope to live one day.
