My Reviews
I didn't care for the book, if it wasn't a book club book I never would have finished it.
It however was a very quick read.
The story just didn't click with me.
I love thrillers and loved this book. This book makes you look beyond all of the media hype about our soldiers and what some of the repurcussions could be.
I liked this book. It was a pretty fast read. I enjoyed learning of how Beryl was able to make it through her personal struggle of how to best serve God.
I love mysteries and thrillers, so this book was great. Not much discussion to be had on this one.
Great book to read on a snowy weekend on the couch or sitting on the beach during a mid winter break.
I relearned alot about the beginning our US history. One thing is that history repeats itself. There are always the scandals of the moment, politicians who are doing the right thing for the country but aren't appreciated and those who only serve themselves.
I listened to this book on audio. I found David McCullough's writing style very wordy. I would fast forward through the cds quite a bit. It took me forever to "read" this book. I only kept at it because it was a book club read.
We will be discussing this book midJanuary, I will update my review based upon how the discussion went.
My view is the book could have been about 1/2 as long as it is. I did like learning about John Adams and his part in history. If it wasn't for book club, I never would have made it past chapter 1!
This is a great book that looks at how no matter what we all have our families. This helps to appreciate what each of us has in our own families and laugh/cry at what happens in Jeannette's family.
I really enjoyed this book. It was not what I expected when I picked it up.
This was about a different time in history, with different values and beliefs. Hard to relate to today's attitudes.
This was a very well written walk through history. It was not more than 100 years ago that women had no rights at all. They were considered their husbands property.
Ilyon Woo did an excellent job of taking all of the facts and weaving them into such an interesting story.
I loved this book, it is very well written and keeps you engaged all the way to the end.
Enjoyed the book up to the epilogue. It could have ended and been done.
