My Reviews
Struggle through the first 150 pages or so to get set up for a page turning novel. At times the subject matter is quite troubling but you become so involved with these characters and events.
This is at times 'laugh out loud' funny.
A few liked the book but the general consensus was a couple couldn't get into it at all and put it down and the rest thought it was way too long with way too much time spent on their drug use.
Subject difficult at times but a wonderfully written book. We're looking forward to reading more by this author.
Good insight into life of slave and slaveowner as well as life in Charleston in the early 1800s.
The Grimke sisters were quite amazing.
The story takes a bit to grab you, but Doig weaves a good tale in the end.
We all loved the book.
Difficult subject to read about but quite interesting story with a peak into the lives of this seemingly functional, yet dysfunctional family.
A book you hate to put down with many interesting twists and turns.
This was the absolutely a delightful read, and we all loved it. It was a book I didn't want to finish as I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Ove and the cast of characters.
We had never read anything by JoJo Moyes before so am now interested in other novels written by her. Some members have read the sequel 'After You' and strongly suggest reading to 'close the chapter' on Louise Clark.
We all enjoyed it but felt it was a bit contrived. Too many characters introduced.
Enjoyed by our Book Club members. With this being Eskens first novel, we expect more wonderful works to come from this author.
Story was good but poorly written
