The Martian

I Found parts of this book boring (enough of the technical stuff), parts of it laugh out loud funny and after a while (and probably for the same reason) riveting. The Marian was the ultimate "Realty TV show” – It captured us as surely as "American Idol" or "survivor". Mark Whatley's struggle shines a light on the frailty of life and the strength of one mans determination to live.

Life lessons through "Ordinary Grace"

This story tells of a preacher and his family and the events that occurred the summer of 1961 - told thru the eyes of the author's teenage self. It is a compelling mystery surrounding five deaths that occurred that eventful summer and how it changed their lives forever. Woven thru the book were many life lessons that served as constant reminders of God's presence and the Grace he bestows upon us all - if we would just open our hearts to SEE. To me the most powerful wisdom was provided in the final sentence of the epilogue and I quote - "The dead are never far from us. They are in our hearts and in our minds and in the end, all that separates us from them is just a single breath, One final puff of air."
